Most 16-inch kids' bikes are designed for pavements and park paths. The Early Rider Charger 16 has bigger ambitions. With an RST F1RST suspension fork offering 60mm of travel, Crux hydraulic disc brakes, and a disc-specific aluminium frame, it brings proper trail bike capability to younger riders who are ready for more challenging terrain.

The RST F1RST 60mm travel suspension forks absorb trail chatter, roots, and rough paths that would stop a rigid bike in its tracks. For children discovering off-road riding at this age, that confidence in the front end makes an enormous difference - they can focus on enjoying the terrain rather than fighting it. The sealed bearing headset keeps steering smooth and maintenance intervals long.

Crux hydraulic disc brakes front and rear, with 140mm rotors and short-reach levers specifically designed for small hands, deliver modulated, powerful stopping on descents. Compared to V-Brakes, hydraulic discs offer more consistent performance across conditions and require less hand strength to operate - an important factor for younger, smaller riders.

The single-speed drivetrain - a Crux 2pc alloy crankset with 26t chainring and dual chain guard, paired with a KMC X9 chain - keeps things mechanical simple on technical trails where gear shifting is often impractical anyway. Kenda Booster 16 x 2.25" 30TPI tyres provide the wider contact patch and tread needed for confident off-road traction.

Double-walled 24h AL6061 disc-specific rims, front axle through 15 x 100mm and rear 12 x 125mm boost spacing, and black stainless steel spokes complete a wheel build that's designed to handle real trail conditions. Available in Brushed, Sage Green, Violet Haze, and Arctic Blue.
